Estilos NY Gladys is a hair salon on Steinway Street in Long Island City, open since May 2018. We work in color, treatments, cuts for women and men, and blowouts. Before we start, we listen to you and recommend what is possible for your hair, always caring for its health and enhancing your beauty and personality.
We serve you in Spanish, English and some Portuguese. We recommend booking your appointment ahead of time; depending on the day’s availability, we may also be able to take walk-ins.
A life dedicated to the art of transformation
Gladys’s story as a stylist began in Venezuela, when she was just 25 years old, starting from the bottom and learning every detail of the craft. She trained alongside well-known Venezuelan professionals, including stylists who had won the prestigious Tijera de Oro award, who became her mentors and helped her master scissor work, cuts and color.
She worked at JanPool, a well-known Caracas salon connected to Venezuelan beauty pageants. In the mid-1980s she took her talent to Ecuador, where she was hired by Wella to teach coloring seminars to beauty professionals.
Her experience also reached television: Ecuavisa brought her on as a stylist for the telenovela "Los que vendrán." In time, she opened her own salon in Guayaquil, building a loyal clientele around her technique and dedication.
Starting in 2000, a new chapter began in New York, where she kept training. Between 2015 and 2017 she attended the IBS conventions, known today as the Be+Well Beauty and Wellness Show.
In May 2018 she opened Estilos NY Gladys, her own space in New York. Today she continues doing what she loves: transforming, creating, and making people feel good through their hair.
Gladys does not just cut and style hair; she turns experience, creativity and passion into an art form.
